Two London Bankers who fancied a change of Lifestyle

What Are We Doing ?

Seeing the World by Yacht

What Kind of Yacht ?

A Vagabond 42’ Cutter Rigged Ketch – El Vagabond

What Are Our Time Scales ?

As long as it takes – there are no real plans

 Background Information

Having sold our previous yacht, a Beneteau First 35S5, we bought El Vagabond in February 2005 from a couple in Torrevieja, Spain who had owned her since she was built in 1982. She was certainly somewhat different in style - we had grown by 7 feet in length and over 14 tons in weight!! However, she was exactly what we wanted to sail once we had decided to leave the UK to go off Blue Water Cruising.

Since our proud purchase and returning her to the UK in July 2005, we have upgraded her significantly replacing her Engine, Sails and Rigging and adding Heating, Wind Vane Steering Gear, various forms of Power Generation etc, etc – the list goes on …..

In July 2006, we both retired from work – Roger at 51 and Vicki at the slightly early retirement age of 38 – to set sail around the world along with Mishima, our 16 year old cat. Sadly, Mishi passed away in September 2008 at the grand old age of 18. In March 2009, we adopted Monty, a Havanese Puppy, to keep us company on our travels.

This web site is intended to let our Friends know how our trip is progressing, where we have been and either where we are or where we are heading.
